The Show: When Harri Met Steve

I remember hearing today’s opening song on the John Peel show back in 1980. Unfortunately I could never recall the name of the band (The Silver) or the name of the track (Do You Wanna Dance). What I thought I recalled was that the band were from Sweden (Finland actually), were very young and fell about in hysterics half way through the performance. Not even the most sophisticated 21st century search engines could provide a solution to a 40 year mystery with that scant information.

By sheer chance I came across a website that did provide the solution, buried deep in a post about ramshackle outsider art music. However the mystery continues because my browser history has been deleted and I can’t remember the website I have to thank.

The Show: Well that’s gentrification you prick

We were going to use more of the #MAGAChallenge entries on today’s show but, quite frankly, we lost the will to live after viewing a half dozen. Better to cut back on the sneering and squeeze in more tunes. Or as a member of Consolidated’s audience put it during a live show “I reckon you should shut the fuck up and play some music”.

And if we had played more music we could have squeezed in the new Pregoblin single.

The Show: Bulbous also tapered? That’s right!

For some bizarre reason I recently got an earworm of Captain Beefheart and The Mascara Snake talking about bulbous things at the start of Trout Mask Replica’s “Pena”, hence today’s show title. Delightful fan video below if you want the whole experience.

Not to be outdone on the freakiness front UNCLE QUENTIN aka Tim “Von Klap” Moore has just released the album Famous For God. One for fans of bent and swinging James Bond soundtracks, The Avalanches, beats and synths. Sneak peek below…
