Or, more accurately, in the words of a French composer speaking to a young Burt Bacharach “never ever feel embarrassed or discomforted by a melody that people can remember or whistle”

Of all the in memoriams we read, this one on Twitter made us smile the most, especially the replies (“Did he say what he thought of Jobseeker?” “His eyes did.”)

Good night Burt Bacharach. I sat next to him once, after our debut on Jools Holland. We’d just performed jobseeker. The set assistant ushered me into an empty chair at the table where this old bloke was sat with a pint. I said “do you mind?” He just nodded.
