In which Fraserhead starts off with a 1982 Prefab Sprout classic all about being addicted to radio, then zig zags through the realms of wonky electronics, dark house, wobbly techno, twee pop, melancholic pop, some sifty rock’n’roll… oh… and some classic 1970s Japanese whisky advertisements (see below).
The Joint likes to dream of DJ’ing with the greats at crucial moments in pop history. Larry Levan in 70’s NYC. Don Letts‘ punky reggae party at The Roxy. DJ Alfredo at Amnesia on Ibiza in the late eighties.
Many thanks to all for making us feel very welcome and a special mention to Waipara DJ Sylvia for helping out. When we ran out of vinyl after 4 hours she filled in with her Lorde LP. Unfortunately we’d stopped recording the set at this point so it was very much a case of you had to be there. Which means in future years, just like with Levan, Letts and Alfredo, thousands will claim they were.

If we’d got our act together it would have been option A, maybe we’ll do option B next week for the final show of 2013, but instead we’ll resort to type and do option C, the usual.
In lieu of a Christmas special here’s the Jive Bunny & The Mixmasters’ megamix of Phil Spector’s classic 1963 Christmas album.
