It was 10 years ago yesterday – Part 3

After our third trawl through The Joint audio vaults for previously unpodcasted shows, we present the entire 3 hour show that was first broadcast on 29th September 2007 (as opposed to the heavily edited version that went out on 8k earlier today).

There are constant references to “Myspace” websites and “peer to peer” networks but, quite frankly, we have no recollection of what any of those phrases mean.

DJ S1FTER – steady rollin’ yo

Says S1FTER: “Starting with another genre we never thought was done here is a “Retro Rap” tune from rap masters The Cool Kids. We never forgot about the Rainbow Warrior. We stopped eating French sticks and sold our Citroens. But now we welcome French electronica, well, because its good, very good. House will always be a part of these mixes, and here is a selection. Love it. House is good. Death to Hipsters. Everybody loves Star Wars. You will even more now. Chur. s1fter”

Michael Fortunati aka Pierre Michel Nigro

Michael Fortunati aka Pierre Michel Nigro

It started as an earworm. That 1987 Kylie Minogue hit “I Heard A Rumour”. Except it wasn’t. It was Bananarama. So down the rabbit hole we went to listen to Bananarama hits and that’s how we stumbled across Michael Fortunati and his 1986 hit “Give Me Up”.

WHY. DID. WE. NOT. KNOW. ABOUT. THIS?
It’s Italo Disco Euro Beat keytar gold.
You can even smell the Kouros.

The Show: Farewell 2015

Last show of the year. We’ll be back some time in January. This will give Fraserhead some time to tidy up and organise his elephant’s graveyard of a studio which contains lots of DJ toys that he can’t figure out how to use properly. See evidence below.

The untidy studio at The Joint HQ.
