If you want to attend films in style why not treat yourself to a Cinemetal t-shirt as worn by RDU’s very own Splash? Splash recommends the Jodorowsky / Judas Priest look as seen below. We’re keen on the Carpenter design.
Cinemetal’s “Jodorowsky” in a Judas Priest style t-shirt. Class.
Posted onSaturday 21 December 2013byThe Joint|Comments Off on The Show: Christmas special? Best of 2013? Or just the same old 60’s, krautrock, hip-hop, indie pop, surf rock, electro, nu-soul, house trap?
If we’d got our act together it would have been option A, maybe we’ll do option B next week for the final show of 2013, but instead we’ll resort to type and do option C, the usual.
In lieu of a Christmas special here’s the Jive Bunny & The Mixmasters’ megamix of Phil Spector’s classic 1963 Christmas album.
A wee while ago we played a track by Pairs entitled “A surgeon at a hospital in Shanghai severed a nerve in my groin” (tip of the hat to Sean Hocking of Metal Postcard Records). As you’ve probably guessed, we’re suckers for songs that are rants, manifestos, or lists. The aforementioned Pairs track probably falls into the latter camp and is a real blast.
Bill Bird of RDU’s legendary Human Pleasure @ Hourly Rates has let it be known that there is an accompanying video. Watch it below in all its technicolor, domestic chores, stop motion glory.
And here’s the playlist in full – no ads this week so it’s a concentrated 2 hour hit.
Like I was saying on the show last week, I’m so far behind on music releases it’s just not funny anymore. I’ve missed some really good stuff over the last year.
However, thanks to Dave Imlay at Galaxy Records I got to have a listen to The Golden Awesome‘s album “Autumn” which was released November 2011 by M’Lady’s Records and must have got an NZ release earlier this year. One for all shoegaze freaks.
ABOUT THE JOINT …
The Herb Whisperer and Fraserhead like to play an eclectic, left field, and off-kilter selection of cosmic disco, electro, indie, hiphop, house, dub, and Krautrock, plus the occasional guilty pleasure. If the radio sounds broken chances are it will be THE JOINT. Find out more about us »
