The show: RIP Johan Cruyff. Music legend. And good at voetbal.

A true legend on the football pitch, Hendrik Johannes “Johan” Cruijff was also a legend in the recording studio. Tragically Cruyff’s music career was cut short by football and the 1969 7-inch single “Oei Oei Oei (Dat Was Me Weer Een Loei)” was his only release.

The Show: Trumped

We live in strange and unusual times where satire cannot even begin to keep up with public figures and events. Watch it and weep.

Let’s enjoy the giggles whilst we can, lest we forget Peter Cook’s take on the effectiveness of satire

“like those wonderful Berlin cabarets … which did so much to stop the rise of Hitler and prevent the outbreak of the Second World War”

Here’s the full story behind the cover art on today’s podcast.

Sarah Nicol - Resonance FM
Special guest star: Sarah Nicol – Resonance FM

Sometimes you need a helping hand from the heavy hitters. For that reason we flew in Sarah Nicol, manager of legendary London radio station Resonance FM, for a refresher on how to properly do a radio show.

Sarah gave us some good advice on how to stalk music legends (e.g. James Murphy, Jane Weaver, Trevor Jackson) without looking like a stalker, how to get backstage at gigs (e.g. Despacio), and how to pick music (e.g. go to a record shop and overwhelm yourself with the vinyl selection).

Consider ourselves schooled. We will attempt to put this new found and valued advice into action from now on.
