The Show: Christmas Leftovers

Not a Christmas themed show.

Not a round-up of the year.

Just some tunes, lying at the bottom of our Santa sack, that we meant to squeeze into a show this year but never quite got around to it. Until now.

It makes for some unlikely bedfellows. Not sure that Bob Lind should be rubbing up against Bog-shed or that Dollar should be sitting side-by-side with Orielles’ remixes but that’s where we find ourselves at the end of 2022.

The Show: I’ll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror

Rest in peace Keith Levene. We celebrate his memory with a couple of live versions of PIL‘s “Poptones”.

One aural, recorded in Paris in 1980 (today’s lucky last track). One visual, from American Bandstand later that same year. The latter must surely be one of the oddest performances ever to grace US network television.

Even before the news of his passing reached us the playlist already had a post-punk flavour from the old (Killing Joke, Kitchen & The Spoons) to the new (Iceage, Spooner).
