“We’re not cutting edge… we’re the clean up crew.”
That’s Fraserhead’s description of the show on-air today. It’s true. We’re the last to arrive at musical crime scenes, handling the hazardous tunes other shows have left (way) behind. RDU’s very own Sunshine Cleaning team.
No time for a cone of silence today but RIP Chris Kelly aka Mac Daddy.
On the show today Fraserhead mines a rich vein of Christchurch music from the likes of Yvnalesca, Pinn’d, Haan-808, The Salad Boys and Misfit Mod whilst The Herb Whisperer trawls through the debris of Record Store Day 2013 – The Uncluded (see video below) being the undoubted highlight. Also listen out for new shiz from King Midas Sound, !!!, and Ben La Desh.
No animals were harmed in the making of this video, but some of the animals must have been harmed at some point.
When I remembered yesterday that Nile Rodgers of Chic had been working on the new Daft Punk album it sent me on a late night YouTube bender digging up lots of classic Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards productions. In 1979 they wrote “Spacer” for French outfit Sheila and Black Devotion. I wouldn’t be surprised if the new Daft Punk album is a retread of “Discovery”. And that would be a very nice thing.
