Today it’s a review of the year in music from Christchurch – Ōtautahi featuring some of our favourite releases throughout 2017.
We couldn’t quite fit them all in, some may not strictly have been made in “Christchurch”, and there are some tracks that were produced earlier than 2017 but only saw the light of this day this year, but we’re sure you get the gist.
And because we like to get a bit OCD on it – and also to avoid ranking art – the setlist features the artists in chronological order of track release…
Not the TENNIS track (“Diamond Rings”) we played on the show today but the 1970s Carpenters inspired video for “I Miss That Feeling.” A duo from Denver, Colorado who like to get a Stevie Nicks / Cyndi Lauper / Karen Carpenter vibe going on.

If we’d got our act together it would have been option A, maybe we’ll do option B next week for the final show of 2013, but instead we’ll resort to type and do option C, the usual.
In lieu of a Christmas special here’s the Jive Bunny & The Mixmasters’ megamix of Phil Spector’s classic 1963 Christmas album.
ABOUT THE JOINT …
THE HERB WHISPERER and FRASERHEAD go all over the shop with an eclectic, left field, and off-kilter selection of cosmic disco, electro, indie, hiphop, house, dub, and Krautrock, plus the occasional guilty pleasure. If the radio sounds broken chances are it will be THE JOINT. Find out more about us »
