The Show: Well, Suck. On. This.

Never ceases to amaze us that, 20 years after the fact, media pundits who enthusiastically advocated for the Iraq war are still much sought after for their opinions by the likes of CNN, MSNBC, NYT, FOX ETC.

Thomas Friedman is a case in point.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that this:

disqualifies you from any future public discourse but how about, at the very least, a mea fucking culpa.

For a little bit more detail try RNZ’s Midweek Mediawatch at the 25s mark and the whole of this episode of NPR’s On The Media (but particularly from 11m 10s).

The Show: Witney, Granby, Rochdale, Preston

 – Witney, because of its community-run bus service; Granby, in Liverpool, for its resident-directed housing; Rochdale, the birthplace of England’s co-operative movement; and Preston, where the city council is breaking with a failed economic system. This becomes the chorus: “Witney, Granby, Rochdale, Preston.”

The Show: Taking The Mix

Quite a few tracks on today’s show have been extracted from various mixtapes that have been taking our fancy lately, including the Kwesachu set over at The Quietus, Electric Youth’s contribution to the White Light series and The Roots Of South Africa Punk soundtrack courtesy of Exile On Moan Street.
