The Show: Wired for sound

After some power cuts in the hills, silence and then amazing free-jazz static we’re back in business.

Here’s that Powell video

Big Black vs Techno

Steve Albini vs Oscar Powell

Polite vs Passive Aggressive

Apologies no downloads or streaming available this week. We forgot to push record.

The Show: Fennoscandia

We make the faux pas so you don’t have to.

Fraserhead unreservedly apologises to Finnish band K-X-P and Finnish listeners for calling them Scandanavian in his “sneaky Scandanavian foursome” halfway through the show.

According to Wikipedia:

In English, Scandinavia usually refers to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.

When a speaker wants to explicitly include Finland alongside Scandinavia-proper, the geographic terms Fenno-Scandinavia or Fennoscandia are sometimes used in English, although these terms are hardly if at all used within Scandinavia.

More precisely, and subject to no dispute, is that Finland is included in the broader term ‘Nordic countries’.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Happy birthday Herb Whisperer. Hope you like the BROS picture disc.

The Show: Vaccination Day

Fraserhead here. I’m on my own today. It’s been pouring with rain and Sudafed is pumping through my veins. Which makes this brand new Shacklock Meth Party single “Vaccination Day” all the more poignant.

The Show: Really fucking edgy

If you have the fascination / stomach to watch the original Signal 30 short, as described in today’s show, head on over to The Internet Archive.

Otherwise you can make do with the first official video from Public Service Broadcasting, wherein they sample some of the audio and images from the legendary 1959 snuff movie driving safety film.
