The Show: I’ll stare directly at the sun, but never in the mirror

Rest in peace Keith Levene. We celebrate his memory with a couple of live versions of PIL‘s “Poptones”.

One aural, recorded in Paris in 1980 (today’s lucky last track). One visual, from American Bandstand later that same year. The latter must surely be one of the oddest performances ever to grace US network television.

Even before the news of his passing reached us the playlist already had a post-punk flavour from the old (Killing Joke, Kitchen & The Spoons) to the new (Iceage, Spooner).
