The Show: Dilla Time

There have been too many obituaries over this last month to do justice to all those who have passed but we’ll make an exception for Edson Arantes Do Nascimento. Here’s a short celebration of the 1970 world cup winning Brazilian team with Pelé taking centre stage. Directed by Douglas Hart, featuring the music of Primal Scream and first broadcast on BBC 2 back in 1994.

Not just a biography it’s also a history of rhythm, an explanation of what made James DeWitt Yancey unique and an exploration of his legacy.

Black Estate Sessions Volume 2

We’re taking a break this weekend which means no show on RDU today.

Just in case you were desperate for a hit of The Joint here’s a recording of the live set we played at Black Estate’s “Dumpling, Wine & Records” night last month.

The audio quality is a little scratchy in places. As the evening wore on the faders were pushed higher and the needle was bouncing in the red. You know how noisy and raucous these vineyard events can get, especially when you break out the Wham vinyl.
