The Show: I’ve made a rod for my own back.

Stewart Lee decrying his own CD filing system.

Can we make a case for The Boo Radleys being filed in the Britpop shoebox, alongside such luminaries as Bennet, Jocasta and Thurman? Let’s not just limit them to Liverpool and Post-Punk / C86 / early Creation / Shoegaze. Here’s the proof – a 67% Britpop rating (courtesy of Top Trumps):

The Show: Now, that’s what we call a stereo

Now, that really is a soundsystem to be proud of. The Dewaele brothers and James Murphy wanted to get back to basics and build a proper disco set up. Add some McIntosh amps to some nice cabinets and drivers, sprinkle them round the edge of a dancefloor and, hey presto, a classy soundsystem!!! We will build our own this weekend. Details over at The Vinyl Factory.

Tip of the hat to Stoney Roads.

That Annie rave video countdown we mentioned? See below. We really wish that Utrecht Amiga Squad existed.

The Show: Party like it’s 1991

The Joint is partial to a little bit of glamour (and Ebony Bones)
Like Ebony Bones, The Joint is partial to a little bit of glamour.

As we mention towards the end of the show, we did encounter some problems with the recording for the podcast. We’ve had to resort to using our uncompressed back up option. The songs still sound pretty good though…
