The Show: Gene Krupa – Drummin’ man

There’s a magnificent run of rhymes in the Davis song “Levert” we played today – sutures, computer, luger, Krueger, cougar, tutor, tumour and tuna amongst others – but the one that made us take notice was:

New lease on life learning drum like Gene Krupa

Nice to hear a name check for the drummin’ man.

As a special bonus you can peer behind the curtain at the inner (inane?) workings of The Joint when we forget to turn the microphones off at the 1:41:20 mark. Will these off-air comments prove to be our Rachel Smalley moment? Strain your ears to find out.

The Show: Double decker bus

Finally! The Dominican Morrissey has finally got around to covering The Smiths!!!

And on the subject of double decker buses here’s the new one from Sleaford Mods.

The RDU transmitter was throwing a wobbly today so there’s a few glitches in the audio. If you don’t listen too closely everything will sound just fine…

The Show: Don’t go in the water

If you’re a stickler for detail you can always examine the historical accuracy of Robert Shaw’s monologue using the “Analysing Quint’s USS Indianapolis Speech” article over at Empire Online.

The Show: The return of Tulip Black

Lady Tulip
Lady Tulip aka Tulip Black, turning things upside down just like Diana Ross.

Her last appearance on The Joint was back in 2009 and today is the return of Lady Tulip. She’s not too pleased either after missing out on tickets to Beyoncé’s three Auckland gigs in October which means she will be playing the darkest, scariest R&B that she can find. Hold tight.
