It’s been almost a year since Plan B magazine folded but there is now an free online archive available, comprising all 46 back issues in PDF format. You can download the torrent here.
And if you’re after something to fill the gap left by Plan B, The Joint recommends a combination of Yeti and Stool Pigeon.
During the course of last week’s show Fraserhead failed to recall anybody releasing anything on 4AD records in the last 20 years. Worse still, The Herb Whisperer failed to recall the name of the band who had released something on 4AD records just last year (The Big Pink was the name he was stretching for).
To help out, Greg Dodds sent an e-mail to us with a link to a free 2009 sampler from 4AD, featuring The Big Pink and 11 other artists, including Joint favourites Camera Obscura and tUnE-YarDs.
Just before Christmas we posted a link to the Symphony of Science project, which is “designed to deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form”. Or more realistically just an excuse to smirk at an autotuned Carl Sagan.
Unfortunately it looks like this idea is going to run and run (and run and run), as this tribute released on Martin Luther King Day shows
But one thing to look forward to this year is the Creation Records documentary “Upside Down”, scheduled to hit cinemas in March / April
In the meantime here’s a show from the archives – 26th January 2008
