The show: Spanning the decades

Or should that be “spinning the decades”?

Like a true, cheesy, Gold Classic Solid HitsTM station we managed to play tracks today from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s (Fraserhead overload sorry), 1990, 2000s, and 2010. One day we will go fully OCD and attempt to play a track from every year.

The Herb Whisperer recommends having a peek at the new We Have Band video for “Divisive”…

Fraserhead thoroughly recommends Hashmoder which he discovered last night and kept him entertained until the small hours.

The show: Sounding bad but feeling okay!

If it features monkeys and/or gold bikinis and/or helicopters and/or dwarves it makes The Joint playlist. For example:

The show: Laid back

We’ve got colds. So the less we talk, the less chance of us spreading our germs, and you catching our colds.

Or in classic radio parlance: less talk, more music. Shocking we know.

The show: Guest star Shannon Aston

Shannon Aston
Shannon Aston - DJing the night away in Seoul, South Korea

Shannon Aston, former Hauswerk host (predecessor of Kool & Stuie), joined us on the show today. Shannon left RDU over 4 years ago for the sunny climes of Seoul, South Korea where he teaches English, DJs, and uses it as a base for his surfing adventures.

Shannon has always had a penchant for the soulful and slo-mo side of things disco and kept us entertained with a very nice selection of tunes. If you want more then have a listen to his mixes on Soundcloud.

The show: This is not a Valentine’s Day special

In fact, the closest we got to a romantic song was the new single from Everybody Was in The French Resistance…Now!, “G.I.R.L.F.R.E.N. (You Know I’ve Got A)”, the main sentiment of which is:

“Fuck off, you psycho, can’t you see I’ve got a partner already?”
