The Show: Now, that’s what we call a stereo

Now, that really is a soundsystem to be proud of. The Dewaele brothers and James Murphy wanted to get back to basics and build a proper disco set up. Add some McIntosh amps to some nice cabinets and drivers, sprinkle them round the edge of a dancefloor and, hey presto, a classy soundsystem!!! We will build our own this weekend. Details over at The Vinyl Factory.

Tip of the hat to Stoney Roads.

That Annie rave video countdown we mentioned? See below. We really wish that Utrecht Amiga Squad existed.

The Show: The return of Tulip Black

Lady Tulip
Lady Tulip aka Tulip Black, turning things upside down just like Diana Ross.

Her last appearance on The Joint was back in 2009 and today is the return of Lady Tulip. She’s not too pleased either after missing out on tickets to Beyoncé’s three Auckland gigs in October which means she will be playing the darkest, scariest R&B that she can find. Hold tight.

The Show: Retro-a-go-go

As mentioned at the start of the show, Mike D is the latest artist to be pressganged into making a runway mixtape for a haute couture fashion show. He’s done a freaky mix for Kenzo. [Thx Dangerous Minds]

Speaking of fashion shows, while the Justice “Planisphere” mix for the Dior Homme summer 2009 show is the sweetest of them all, the set that Chromatics did for the Chanel spring/summer 2013 show is super classy.

The Show: Party like it’s 1991

The Joint is partial to a little bit of glamour (and Ebony Bones)
Like Ebony Bones, The Joint is partial to a little bit of glamour.

As we mention towards the end of the show, we did encounter some problems with the recording for the podcast. We’ve had to resort to using our uncompressed back up option. The songs still sound pretty good though…
