Gap Filler aims to temporarily activate vacant sites within the Christchurch central city with creative projects, to make for a more interesting, dynamic and vibrant central city. And after the earthquake there’s a lot of vacant sites.

The current Gap Filler is on at 832/834 Colombo Street (formerly South of the Border restaurant and Denis Moore Auto Electrician). A temporary garden café, petanque, live music, poetry readings, outdoor cinema started on Thursday night and are happening tonight and Sunday.

Get yourselves along and support people doing some thing constructive and interesting in these weird post-quake days!!!

Thanks Darryl J for putting us onto the new Chromeo video for “Hot Mess”. Good, clean fun. Best part is the homage to Robert Palmer‘s classic “Addicted to Love” and “Simply Irresistible” videos.

And who can resist some Robert Palmer model action???

We’ve been meaning to set up an erratum page but until we do that Fraserhead apologises for continually getting the name of Christchurch band No Aloha mixed up with the not so well known American No Age. Honest mistake guv (just like Fraserhead mixes up Jack White and Jack Black all the time). Possibly to do with another Christchurch band called Sleepy Age (they won Roundup last year). So maybe the bands should form a supergroup called No Age? Or Sleepy Aloha? Just saying…

What the hell are you doing listening to us fool? You should be down at The Dux to watch the Roundup heats! Otherwise let us entertain you for a wee while.

Apparently there is no truth whatsoever in the rumour that Hillary Clinton was evicted and escorted from The George Hotel in Christchurch this morning because she tried the well known technique of Mini-Bar Liquefaction, whereby in a post-earthquake zone you drink the hotel mini-bar dry, smash the bottles, and then claim that the aftershock did it.

Still, it’s not as big a faux pas as misplacing the launch codes for a nuclear attack, which we’ve just found out her husband Bill did at the turn of the last century.

Best cover version we found this week is of Aphex twin’s 1995 classic “Alberto Balsalm” by the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati Steel Band.

And here’s the vocoder nuttiness we were talking about:

Bruce Haack “Farad: The electric voice”

Dave Tompkins “How to Wreck a Nice Beach” – a history of the vocoder!!!

On the show today a special Halloween present – downright frightening and disturbing hip hop courtesy of Earl Sweatshirt from the Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All collective. If you choose to watch the video (see below) of the “Earl” song we played you’ll discover it’s not just frightening but revolting as well.

Go to Avenge The Virgins for more information on the uncensored and terrifying thoughts of a group of 16 year olds rapping in a stream of consciousness style.
