This could get very old, very quickly

Just before Christmas we posted a link to the Symphony of Science project, which is “designed to deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form”. Or more realistically just an excuse to smirk at an autotuned Carl Sagan.

Unfortunately it looks like this idea is going to run and run (and run and run), as this tribute released on Martin Luther King Day shows

The show: Back for 2010!

Press releases and reviews of the new DVA single “Ganja” on Hyperdub Recordings have been praising it’s “cartoonish ring-tone-friendly synth melody” and its “wonky synth line”.

After playing it today we’re not so sure. We think the hook has nothing to do with ringtones or synths but has it’s origin somewhere outside of this world. Here’s the bit of the show where we make the connection…

Alternatively, this is the raw, unpasteurized version of the show in mp3 format. No chapters, pictures or links. Otherwise the audio content is the same as the three m4a files above. The choice is yours…..

The Joint is still trying to get to grips with 2010

But one thing to look forward to this year is the Creation Records documentary “Upside Down”, scheduled to hit cinemas in March / April

In the meantime here’s a show from the archives – 26th January 2008

A very late Christmas present

It’s been a while since we found ourselves in agreement with the NME, but there’s quite a few songs on their Official Radar 2010 Mixtape that made their way into our playlists during the last few months.

You can download the entire Mixtape here.
